Suzanne Viragh Anderson
Suzanne Viragh Anderson, 63, of Parkersburg died Tuesday, July 8, 2014, in Parkersburg.
She was born in Budapest, Hungary, in 1951, the daughter of the late Gyorgy and Erzsebet Tenke Viragh.
She was orphaned in 1967 and came to Vienna, W.Va., in early 1968 to live with her sister, Elizabeth Halasz Moore, her husband and their children. She graduated from Parkersburg Catholic High School, got her degree and West Virginia teaching certification from West Virginia Wesleyan College at Buckhannon, W.Va. She was a nationally certified elementary school teacher in the Wood County Schools system. She taught most of her career at Worthington Elementary School, first as a fifth grade and later as a kindergarten teacher. She was a member of the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church.
She is survived by her sisters, Elizabeth Moore (William) and Irene Farley (Robert); six nieces and nephews Robert Moore (Anne), Margaret Jacobson (J.L.), Dale Moore (Lisa), Raymond Moore (Andrea), Erin Friday (Eric), and Robin Gianokous (Dean); and her 12 grand-nieces and nephews, whom Suzanne considered her honorary grandchildren: Amanda Jacobson, Kevin Jacobson, Daniel Jacobson, Alana Moore, Camryn Moore, Evan Moore, Olivia Moore, Colin Friday, Sean Friday, Shannon Friday, Nicholas Gianokous and Luke Gianokous.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 19, at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church with the Rev. Marjorie S. Bevans officiating. The family will receive friends a half hour prior to the service. Friends are invited to a reception at the Leavitt Family Center immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Parkersburg Humane Society or the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church.
