Community Foundation grant deadline Sept. 1

PARKERSBURG – Our Community’s Foundation – The Parkersburg Area Community Foundation and the Regional Affiliates of Doddridge, Ritchie, Jackson, Mason Counties and the Little Kanawha Area – will accept applications for grants for the fall cycle of its Community Action Grant Program until midnight Sept. 1.

The application process is online. Organizations apply to PACF or any of the affiliates on the same online application form, the Foundation’s Community Action Grant Application.

To access the application, go to, go to the Grants section and click on “Applications and Forms.” To be considered for a Community Action Grant, an applicant must be a private, nonprofit organization, tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code or a public institution.

Either the applicant or program to be funded must be in the foundation’s 11-county service area of Wood, Wirt, Doddridge, Ritchie, Pleasants, Roane, Calhoun, Gilmer, Jackson, Mason and Washington counties.

The foundation provides support for capital and equipment projects, program development and technical assistance, training, capacity building projects and, under special circumstances, operating support.

Applications are considered for support from a variety of funds available to support charitable projects through the region.

Organizations submitting requests through the Community Action Grant Program for projects benefiting Mason County also will be considered for support from the Gordon C. and Mildred R. Jackson Foundation advised fund, which supports projects benefiting the residents of Mason County.

Organizations submitting requests through the Community Action Grant Program for projects serving residents of the Ripley area of Jackson County also will be considered for support from the Bob and Helen Lester Community Fund.

To be eligible for support from the Lester Fund, the applicant must be located in or the program to be funded must serve residents of the Ripley area, which for purposes of grant eligibility is defined as the city of Ripley and the area within a 5-mile driving distance for postings of the city of Ripley limits.

No separate application form is required for consideration for support from the Jackson Foundation Fund or the Lester Fund as applicants use the foundation’s Community Action Grant Program application.

A foundation affiliate has educational support opportunities available in the fall grant cycle.

The Doddridge County Community Foundation Affiliate has funds available through the Doddridge County Education Fund to provide grants to Doddridge County schools for projects that focus on student, faculty and facility development and improvement.

Requests must be related to academic projects that are innovative and enhance the education process. Funds are not available for athletic-related projects. Schools apply for support through the foundation’s online Community Action Grant application.
