Escaped inmate located
PARKERSBURG-Authorities located an inmate who escaped from the Parkersburg Correctional Center at Camden Clark Medical Center on Wednesday evening.
Jason M. Higginbotham, 32, last known address 2378 Jakes Run Road, Fairview, Marion County, was apprehended at CCMC at around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, after a warrant was issued for his arrest on a felony charge of escape for being absent since Tuesday morning from the work-release program at the Parkersburg Correctional Center, said Lawrence Messina with Military Affiairs and Public Safety.
A press release on Wednesday said Higginbotham left the facility for furlough at 9 a.m. Tuesday and called just before 3 p.m. to say he was in the emergency room because his blood sugar was “out of control.”
According to the correctional center, Higginbotham was sentenced to one to 10 years on a charge of obtaining money, property or services under false pretenses.
On Wednesday evening, it was unclear whether Higginbotham would be penalized for failing to obey the terms of his stay in the work-release program, Messina said.
The Parkersburg Correctional Center is a minimum-security facility with 100 beds for participants in the work-release program and 30 for substance-abuse recovery.
