It Takes a Village event scheduled
MARIETTA – Organizers of the Dickens Village in Cambridge, Ohio, will present It Takes a Village in Downtown Marietta at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday at Marietta Main Street, 132 Putnam St.
Efforts are underway to create a holiday destination in Marietta, said committee Chairman Ken Kupsche.
“The organizers in Cambridge were willing to come tell us what worked for them, so we jumped at the chance to hear their story,” Kupsche said.
The organization meets the second Tuesday of the month, he said. This is the third meeting.”
“Although we don’t plan to duplicate the efforts of our neighbors up the road, we want to create a solid structure for volunteers to move the ideas forward,” said Marietta Main Street Executive Director Jean G. Farmer. “It’s a great opportunity for those interested to come, share your ideas, then help in bringing those ideas to life.”
The idea for Dickens Village came eight years ago from resident Bob Ley, who owned a men’s clothing store in Marietta, to capture traffic on both interstates 77 and 70.
Marietta Main Street is a non-profit organization located in Marietta and the newest Main Street program in Ohio. Its mission is to bring people together to preserve, enhance and enjoy Downtown Marietta.
