Evans brings 23 years of expertise to Peoples Bank
MARIETTA – Matt Evans has joined Peoples Bank’s Trust and Investment Services Division as senior vice president, trust officer.
Evans has more than 23 years of banking and financial expertise. Most recently, he was senior vice president, director of risk management at Peoples Bank since 2006. Before joining Peoples Bank, Evans was executive vice president and vice president of risk Management at various financial institutions.
For the past seven years, Evan’s role at the bank has included internal management – assessing products, processes, and helping the bank strategically plan for the future. In his new role, he works with clients to identify their investment and financial goals. This is accomplished through specific product offering, guidance, and monitoring; while keeping the clients’ best interest in mind.
“While I loved the position I previously held, this is a welcomed change,” said Evans. “Getting back to the customers and working directly with them to help them achieve their financial goals is important to me. It is a unique opportunity to work with my neighbors and friends to build a better future for their families and our community.”
Evans has always been intrigued by the trust side of banking.
“My father began his career in the trust department and it has always been an area I enjoyed learning about,” Evans said.
As the son of the late Robert E. Evans, who served as the chairman of the board and chief executive officer at Peoples Bancorp for more than 23 years, Matt is following in a similar career path.
“My father’s passion for personal financial management has been a guiding factor in my life,” Evans said. “I think the most important characteristic he taught me came through his words and actions and that was to have integrity. I strive for the same in everything I do.”
Evans earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from Miami University and a juris doctor from Capital University Law School. He is an active member of the Marietta community, taking part in the Marietta Noon Rotary Club and serving on the Marietta YMCA Board of Directors and Hippodrome Colony Historic Theatre.
“When Dave Baker announced he would retire from the trust department in December, we knew we needed to have just the right person step into the role,” said Staci Matheney, Peoples Bank senior vice president, trust and investment services. “Matt was the perfect candidate. His extensive knowledge and experience in finance, business management, and law – combined with his love for Marietta – was just what we needed. We are delighted to have him join the trust team.”
