Edwin and Thelma Davis of St. Marys celebrated their 65th anniversary in Dayton, Ohio, on Nov. 30, 2013, with a dinner party given by their children.
They were married on Oct. 29, 1948, at Williamstown by the Rev. Harley Bailey.
Their entire family, with the exception of two great-grandchildren, attended the anniversary celebration.
During the cocktail hour, a photographer took group and candid shots, while the attendees enjoyed mingling, sharing stories and viewing several collages featuring photos of family and events during the couple’s 65 years together.
After dinner and anniversary cake, their great-grandchildren entertained the group by singing “Happy Anniversary” and presenting handmade anniversary cards to the honorees. Gary Hunt was master of ceremony, and the couple’s children and grandchildren shared memorable events with the group.
Edwin and Thelma attend St. Marys United Methodist Church and are lifelong residents of Pleasants County.
She is the daughter of the late Freeman and Minnie Woods Frashuer of Waverly.
She has been retired from the Pleasants County school system for 25 years, where she was a secretary at the superintentent’s office.
He is the son of the late Charles and Helen Rowell Davis of St. Marys. He has also been retired from the Pleasants County school system for 25 years, where he ended his career as the director of transportation. They continue to enjoy their retirement and enjoy spending time with family and friends.
They are the parents of three children, Deborah (Gary) Hunt of Bellbrook, Ohio, Terrie (Doug) Piersol of Marietta and Jerry (Evelyn Perkey) Davis of St. Marys.
They have five grandchildren, Garrett Hunt, Nathan Hunt, Gina Davis Houser, Jared Davis and Brett Piersol.
They have 13 great-grandchildren, Cameron, Shelby, Madison, Austin, Emily and Morgan Hunt, Xavier and Reagan Blais, Wiley, Cody and Kasey Houser, and Haiden and Halleigh Davis.
