Earthquake felt in Ohio, W.Va.

NELSONVILLE – The Athens County Emergency Management Agency reported a magnitude 3.5 earthquake Wednesday afternoon in the area of Nelsonville.

Tremors were felt throughout Athens and surrounding counties, including parts of Wood County, around 1 p.m. Wednesday. Athens County 911 received several calls from the public, but no damage was reported.

Some residents in Parkersburg and Waverly reported feeling the quake, though it was felt mainly by those in the upper floors of multi-story buildings.
