PUB issues boil water advisory
PARKERSBURG – The Parkersburg Utility Board has issued a boil water advisory for areas near the 1800 block of 15th Avenue.
A broken water line followed by low water pressure has created the potential for contamination, and residents are being urged to boil water before drinking or use bottled water. Water also should not be used for hygiene or food preparation unless it is boiled first.
The boil water advisory includes Minner Street at DuPont Road including Brenda Avenue, Newberry Drive, Jeffery Street and the 1700 block of 14th Avenue.
Bring all water to a boil, let it boil for one minute and let it cool before using, or use bottled water. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, bathing and food preparation until further notice. Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water.
The main water line broke at the 1800 block of 15th Avenue. Crews were on site and were working to restore service and pressure to customers. Once the repair is complete the lines will be flushed to remove the air and any disturbed sediments. Samples will then be collected and analyzed and notification will be provided as soon as the boiling of water is no longer needed.
