Marietta Virginia “Ginny” Johnson
Marietta Virginia “Ginny” Johnson, 98, of Worthington Manor, Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away on Oct. 17, 2013, at Camden Clark Medical Center, Memorial Campus.
She was born Aug. 24, 1915 in Jackson County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Charles Clifton Brotton and Molly Elizabeth Cooper Brotton.
Ginny was a graduate of Akron East High School in Akron, Ohio and retired from the O’Ames Corporation as a payroll clerk. She formerly worked at Viscose Company and was a homemaker. She enjoyed oil painting and water color along with singing and playing the organ. She enjoyed traveling and being with her family. She was a charter member of Tri-City Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Hopkins of Vienna, W.Va.; her son, Harold D. Johnson Jr. and his friend, Edna Ward of Elizabeth, W.Va.; five grandchildren, Gayle Hoschar and family, Julie Jones and family, Col. Harold Dale Johnson III (Kelly), Randy Johnson (Theresa) and family and William Ryan Johnson; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold D. Johnson Sr.; her grandson, Jerry Johnson; Barbara’s companion of many years, Jim Jones, who was a dear friend; and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23, at Tri-City Baptist Church, with Pastor Joe Ward officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen South Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Green St., Parkersburg, and one hour prior to services at the church.
