Dog killed after attacking family
MARIETTA – At least one person was injured Monday night in a dog attack in Palmer Township that ended with the animal being shot and killed.
Washington County Sheriff Larry Mincks said the incident occurred after 9 p.m. Monday at 7120 Ohio 676, the residence of Toby J. Miller, age not available. A family member reportedly tripped over their dog, a large bull mastiff.
“The dog began attacking the family,” Mincks said.
The woman who tripped over the dog was attacked, as well as another family member, Mincks said. The full extent of their injuries was not immediately known. The dog then turned on a third member of the family.
“He was able to get a shotgun, and he shot it, and the dog is dead,” Mincks said.
Deputies were still on the scene Monday night.
