Mary L. Milam

Mary Lou Milam, 82, of Coolville, Ohio, went to be with her Lord on Aug. 25, 2013, quietly at home, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Buffalo, Okla., the daughter of the late Leroy Herchel Graves and the late Eva Yocum Graves in 1932. She relocated to Oakland, Calif. when she was four years old during the Dust Bowl Era.

She attended Praire Bible Institute in Alberta, Canada and degreed in missionary studies at San Francisco Bible College, San Francisco, Calif..

She retired after 30+ years as a preschool teacher from Parkersburg Day Nursery, Parkersburg, W.Va.. In addition, she was active in child ministry throughout her life bringing God’s word to children.

She enjoyed serving her church, singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School and organized an afterschool bible study group for children at Coolville Elementary School through the Child Evangelism Fellowship organization. She also enjoyed being with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, reading her bible, gardening and helping others.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Henry R. Milam, Coolville, Ohio; six children, Faith Amich (Ken) of Columbia, S.C., Rachel Connolly of Parkersburg, Henry R. Milam Jr. (Erin) of Williamstown, Mark Milam (Francine) of Gainsville, Fla., Cathy Wooten (George) of Lithia, Fla. and Stan Milam (Cindy) of Archer, Fla.; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Anna Forslund (Mo) of Moraga, Calif. and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Ted Graves of Oakland, Calif.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 7, at 1 p.m. at White’s Chapel Church in Coolville, Ohio, 52270 Rice Run Road, Coolville, Ohio.
