Homeless woman remanded to custody by judge
PARKERSBURG – A Wood County woman was remanded to custody after a status hearing in Wood County Circuit Court Tuesday.
Melissa Kay Brown, 26, of Parkersburg, in custody, was remanded to custody by Judge J.D. Beane when it was learned she had no place to live if she was released on home confinement after she violated her probation.
Beane sentenced her to serve the remainder of her one- to five-year sentence in jail. She was sentenced Nov. 5, 2011, after she pleaded guilty to a charge of first-degree sexual abuse. Her sentence was for one to five years with credit for 262 days served.
