Clare Inez Snyder, 68, of Harrisville, passed away Aug. 16, 2013, at Fairmont General Hospital in Fairmont, W.Va.
She was born Sept. 15, 1944, in Yorktown, Va., a daughter of the late Elton A. Snyder and Hortense (Guinan) Snyder.
Clare retired after 46 years service as a school teacher for the Ritchie County Board of Education. She taught history, forensics and theatre. She was a graduate of St. Luke High School in Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J., the Ladycliff College in New Jersey, Marshall University and West Virginia University. Clare was very proud of being a teacher. She was a member of the Ritchie County Retired Teachers Association, the International and WV Thespian Society, and was proud to be voted the state Theatre Teacher of the Year.
Surviving are two sisters, Hortense Trish Sutton of New Milton, and Ruth “Janie” Snyder of Harrisville; a nephew, Gary “Mike” Sutton Jr. (Katrina) of New Milton; and great-nephews, Jared, Jacob and Johnathan.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two infant brothers, Christopher and Joseph Snyder.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Raiguel Funeral Home, Harrisville. Interment will follow at Moyer Cemetery on the family farm. Visitation will be Monday from 4-8 p.m.
