Charleston PD in standoff with former AG lawyer
CHARLESTON – A state official says a suspect in a standoff with Charleston police had resigned from the state attorney general’s office last week.
Attorney General Patrick Morrisey identified the suspect as Mark Bramble. Morrisey says Bramble was employed in the office’s workers compensation division for the past year and had turned in his resignation notice Thursday.
Police declined to release details on the arrest pending an afternoon news conference.
Police and emergency officials tell media outlets the suspect fired multiple gunshots inside a home in the city’s South Hills neighborhood Monday morning. The man also shot at police.
The man’s wife was able to leave the home. She wasn’t injured.
During the standoff, nearby residents were told to remain in their homes and an elementary school was locked down.
