Motorcyclists injured in Athens County crash
ATHENS – The Ohio State Patrol in Athens County is investigating a motorcycle accident with serious injuries.
A 1986 Honda Goldwing motorcycle ridden by Raymond Flynn, 48, of Easton, Md., with Erika Flynn, 48, as a passenger and a 2002 Honda Shadow motorcycle ridden by June Rae Murray were traveling west Saturday around 9:30 a.m. on U.S. 33 as part of a group of motorcycle riders.
A motorcycle in the front of the pack began to slow down when attempting to make a right turn. Murray, 51, of Virginia Beach, was unable to stop and struck the bike with the Flynns on it in the rear, the police reported.
All three occupants on the two motorcycles were ejected.
Both drivers were not wearing helmets and suffered head injuries with Murray being unresponsive at the scene. Erika Flynn was wearing a helmet, but was still injured.
The three were taken to Grant Medical Center in Columbus by Med Flight.
The Flynns were listed as having incapacitating injuries while Murray was listed as having critical injuries Saturday.
A nursing supervisor at Grant Medical Center said they had no listing for Raymond Flynn. Both Erika Flynn and June Rae Murray were listed in serious condition Sunday.
Charges are still pending, the Ohio State Patrol reported.
