Conley finishes second

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Cale Conley almost did it again!

The Vienna race car driver returned to the Columbus Motor Speedway on Saturday night, where he would attempt to defend the title he won a year ago in the NAPA 150 in NASCAR’s K&N East Series.

Conley kept getting better as the day progressed as he finished ninth in the first practice session, seventh in the second practice period, then qualified fifth for the 150-lap feature race.

It didn’t take Conley long to move up into contention as he advanced from fifth to fourth to third to second. But he simply couldn’t get around Daniel Suarez, who took the checkered flag and repeated Conley’s feat from a year ago, winning his fist K&N race at Columbus.

Still, it was a grat performance for Conley, who loves running at Columbus, which he considers his home track on the circuit. It also allows him to spend some time with his family as well as with his local fans. Conley made a guest appearance at Superior Toyota Hyundai on Wednesday.

The race ended under a green-white checker as two of the three caution flags came out in the final seven laps.
