‘Let’s be friends’ gone

On a recent visit to Parkersburg, I ventured to Point Park to check out the city’s rehabilitated landmark. While there, I was dismayed to see that “Let’s Be Friends” on the floodwall has been unceremoniously painted over. No one I spoke to knew this had happened, much less why. The floodwall at Point Park is among the most iconic images of Parkersburg, rivaling PHS, the Wood County Courthouse and The Blennerhassett Hotel. To deface it in such a manner is appalling to me. I sincerely hope this was an act of vandalism that will soon be removed.
