National Small Business Week to be held

Did you know that more than half of Americans either own or work for a small business, and they create about two out of every three new jobs in the U.S. each year?

Since 1963, the President of the United States issues a proclamation announcing National Small Business Week each year. In 2013 we will celebrate this week on June 17-12. National Small Business Week recognizes the critical contributions of America’s entrepreneurs and small business owners.

In addition to honoring the impact small businesses make, the SBA also provides many resources, training sessions and webinars for small business owners and entrepreneurs. You can access this information on the SBA website at “”>

Each day during National Small Business Week, small business owners can participate in online-only panel discussions on hot topics like social media and business financing starting daily at 4 p.m. All events, in-person and online, will be streamed live on The event hashtag is #SBW2013.

Affordable Care Act webinars for small businesses

The WV District Office of the SBA also conducts training and webinars for local small businesses.

One of the biggest concerns small business owners are currently facing is the impact of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). As a small business owner, do you have to purchase health care for your employees as part of the ACA? What if you are a sole proprietor? Will you be eligible for tax credits?

If you answered “Yes” to any of these questions, then this FREE webinar is for YOU! Guest speaker, Perry Bryant, executive director of West Virginians for Affordable Health Care, will answer these questions and help small businesses navigate the new national health care legislation. The ACA webinar will be held from 2-3 p.m. on either July 19 or Aug. 23. Register for one of these sessions at
