Ira ‘Ike’ Farley
Ira “Ike” Delano Farley, 79, of Parkersburg, passed away June 10, 2013, at Camden Clark Medical Center.
He was born March 25, 1934, at True, W.Va., a son of the late Claude and Kathryn Shrewsbury Farley. He was of the Baptist Faith, was a U.S. Air Force Veteran and had retired from Universal Glass, later named Diamond Glass. He enjoyed playing pool and was known as the “Magic Man” for playing tricks.
Surviving are three sons, Delano (DC) Farley of Parkersburg, Brigham D. Farley of Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Michael A. Farley stationed at Ellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, Nev.; one daughter, Kathlyn J. Shepler in North Carolina; 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; a loving sister, Virginia Paris Gadd Tedrow of Texas and Pipestem, W.Va., near Hinton; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris R. Farley; infant twin sons, Alvin and Kelvin Farley; three brothers, James, Ed and Oliver Farley; and a sister, Arlis Marks.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Kimes Funeral Home, Parkersburg. Pastor Jerry Caplinger will officiate and burial will follow at the Rockland Cemetery, with military rites provided by the American Legion Post #15. The visitation will be today from 6-8 p.m.
