WVU-P announces new summer hours
PARKERSBURG – In an effort to reduce utility costs, officials at West Virginia University at Parkersburg have announced new summer hours.
Beginning Monday, WVU-P will extend its daily public hours to 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Many offices, such as the Student Welcome Center, financial aid, records and the non-traditional studies office, will be open until 7 p.m. All college locations, including the Jackson County Center in Ripley, will be closed Friday through Sunday.
With the implementation of the new schedule, the college will see an approximate 10 percent savings in weekly utility costs, which amounts to $1,500 to $2,000 a week, depending on the weather and other factors, according to Katie Wootton director of marketing and communications.
In addition, the new extended morning and evening hours will help WVU-P better serve non-traditional, working students, she said.
The temporary summer schedule will run through Aug. 2 with normal hours resuming the following Monday. Fall 2013 courses will begin Aug. 19.
