Police seeking stabbing suspect
PARKERSBURG – City Police are investigating an early morning stabbing that left two people with serious injuries and a man facing charges.
Around 3:42 a.m. Thursday, officers arrived on Spring Street in reference to a stabbing. Officers found David Whitlock, 51, and Mary Alvarado, 51, of 1614 Spring St. down in front of 1612 Spring St. after what appeared to be serious puncture wounds from a knife, officials said.
Parkersburg Police Sgt. Greg Collins said the two were transported to Camden Clark Medical Center Thursday morning with knife wounds. Police said they were apparently stabbed multiple times with a kitchen knife.
After conducting interviews and speaking with witnesses, detectives issued two felony malicious wounding warrants for Ira Blair Hyde, 54, of 1616 Spring St. Police were still looking for Hyde Thursday night.
A criminal complaint filed in Wood County Magistrate Court alleged Hyde began yelling at his neighbors from a window. Whitlock went into the street telling Hyde to stop yelling and if he had a problem to “come outside,” officials said.
Hyde allegedly exited his residence and approached Whitlock. Hyde began swinging his arms at Whitlock while holding a knife. Police said Whitlock was unarmed.
According to police, Hyde stabbed Whitlock once in the chest. After he was stabbed, Alvarado came outside to stop the fight and was also stabbed. Alvarado was stabbed under her left arm and in her chest, according to the report.
As the victims yelled for help, Hyde fled the area on foot. Detectives have not located him but were continuing search efforts Thursday night, Collins said.
Whitlock’s condition was improving and he was listed in stable condition. Alvarado underwent surgery for her injuries and was listed in serious condition. Collins said by 9 p.m. Thursday Alvarado was listed in stable condition at the hospital.
