Two drivers suffer injuries in accident
McCONNELSVILLE – Two Morgan County residents were injured in a two-vehicle accident Friday afternoon in Morgan County.
The accident occurred about 2:41 p.m. Friday on Morgan County 43, east of Ohio 377, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
One driver, Clayton Sobers, 16, of Malta, was treated and released Friday from Good Samaritan Hospital in Zanesville. The other driver, Cole Shankland, 16, of McConnelsville, was transported Friday by MedFlight to Grant Hospital in Columbus where he had been upgraded from stable condition on Friday to fair condition on Sunday.
The highway patrol said Sobers and Shankland were traveling in opposite directions on Morgan County 43, both driving Ford Rangers, when Shankland crested the hill in a curve and collided with Sobers head-on. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash and neither driver was wearing a seat belt, the patrol reported.
The crash remains under investigation.
