Ronald Doyle Minard

Ronald Doyle Minard, 70, of Parkersburg, passed away March 8, 2013, at Camden Clark Medical Center.

He was born Jan. 24, 1943, in Mansfield, Ohio, a son of the late Doyle and Ann (Bikar) Minard.

He graduated from Mansfield Senior High School, and was a graduate of Marshall University where he played varsity football on a full scholarship. He then graduated from Cleveland State with a Master’s in Educational Administration. He was employed as a teacher and football coach for South Central High School, Greenwich, Ohio; teacher, football coach and track coach for Bishop Rosecrans High School, Zanesville, Ohio; Assistant Principal of West Jefferson, Ohio; Elementary School Principal of West Jefferson, Ohio, and Caldwell, Ohio; Superintendent of schools Eastern Local School District of Meigs County, Ohio; school Principal for Switzerland of Ohio School District; interim Principal for Southern Local of Meigs County, Ohio, and the Assessment Administrator for N.A.E.P.

He attended St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. He enjoyed wood working, Marshall football and bird watching. He was a volunteer for the Campus Martius Museum as a tour guide, board member and tutor with Mid-Ohio Valley Literacy Council, and board member and coach for Special Olympics of Wood County.

He is survived by his wife, Teresa Jean (Jones) Minard; sister, Lee Ann Sohl; children, Angela Minard Smith (Ron), Alex Minard (Christina), and Andrew Minard (Heidi); stepson, Thomas Woollard; eight grandchildren, Hannah Smith, Kira Smith, Mae Smith, Cecelia Minard, Ezra Minard, Ezekiel Minard, Elena Minard and Cameron Minard; and his best furry friend, Korky.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Monsignor Joseph Peterson as celebrant. Inurnment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday.
