Parkersburg resident injured in accident
ATHENS -The Athens post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a one-vehicle accident that left a Parkersburg resident with incapacitating injuries, officials said.
Michael D. Phoenix, 28, of Parkersburg, was injured in the crash after the black 2004 Jaguar X-Type he was driving ended up in a creek bed, according to police reports. The accident happened Tuesday around 7 p.m., officials said.
Phoenix was westbound on Ohio 550 near milepost 7 in Athens County when he failed to maintain control of his vehicle, striking a utility pole, going to the left side of the roadway and overturning in the creek, the highway patrol said.
According to reports, Phoenix was transported by Athens EMS to O’Bleness Memorial Hospital in Athens. Phoenix’s condition was unavailable Tuesday night.
No charges have been filed in the crash, the highway patrol said. Officials said the cause of the crash is undetermined.
