Jennifer ‘Suzy’ McAtee

Jennifer Suzanne McAtee, 54, passed away on Jan. 25, 2013, at Marietta Memorial Hospital, after an extended illness.

She was born on April 5, 1958, in Parkersburg, W.Va., the daughter of Nancy Dearth Taylor Mason of Parkersburg and the late W. Edwin Taylor. She attended and graduated from Parkersburg High School with the class of 1976, where she was a member of the Red Wing Drill Team. Suzy was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. She worked as a Unit Secretary at St. Joseph’s Hospital until she and her late husband, Burke McAtee, moved to Pittsburgh, Pa., where she worked at Shadyside Hospital and then at the York Hospital in York, Pa.

In addition to her mother, Suzy is survived by her daughter, Laura Jarrell and Brian; grandchildren, Liliana “Lily” and River, all of Poca, W.Va.; brother, Stephen E. Taylor and Cheryl; nephews, Christopher Taylor and Leah, and their son, Nicholas, Justin Taylor and family of South Carolina, and Rebecca Taylor; step-brother, Timothy Taylor of Columbus; several other nieces and nephews; and her beloved Bichon dogs, Aeriel and Sebastian. In addition to her father and her husband, Suzy was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Herbert E. and Alma Virginia Dearth; her paternal grandparents, James E. and Mae Taylor; and very special aunt, Claradell Smith.

The Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, with Msgr. Joseph Peterson officiating. Entombment will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Visitation will be 1-4 p.m. Sunday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg.

Memorials may be made in ‘Suzy’s’ memory, to the Matthew 25 ministry at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church.
