Parkersburg council approves committee posts
PARKERSBURG – Parkersburg City Council approved its 2013 committee appointments.
The council reviewed the appointments during Tuesday’s city council meeting. Council President Jim Reed encouraged the chairmen of all of the committees to quickly schedule meeting days.
Reed also asked for all members to try to attend as many committee meetings as possible.
“Even though you are not a voting member, I’d like you to try to come to the meetings and give your input,” he said.
There was only one change during Tuesday’s meeting. Councilwoman Nancy Wilcox said she would be unable to serve on the Holiday in the Park committee. Councilwoman Kim Coram volunteered to serve on that committee.
The council committee appointments are:
* 2013 Budget Hearings Chairman: John Rockhold.
* Finance Committee: Rockhold as chairman, Reed as vice chairman, Wilcox, Roger Brown and Sharon Lynch.
* Public Works Committee: Mike Reynolds as chairman, Reed as vice chairman, John Kelly, J.R. Carpenter and Coram.
* Personnel Committee: Lynch as chairman, Reed as vice chairman, Wilcox, Reynolds and Rockhold.
* Area Roundtable: Kelly.
* Wood County Recreation Commission: Carpenter.
* Municipal Planning Commission: Lynch.
* Municipal Tree Commission: Reynolds.
* Facade Committee: Brown.
* Holiday in the Park: Coram.
* Downtown Task Force: Reynolds.
* Urban Renewal Authority: Rockhold as chairman, Wilcox as vice chairman.
* Bicycle Committee: Coram.
The 2013 Stormwater Committee will consist of councilmen Rockhold and Reynolds, Public Works Manager Eric Bennett, City Engineer Justin Smith and committee members Greg Herrick, Ed Glasser, Jim Province and Paul Hoblitzell.
Rockhold announced the first meeting of the Urban Renewal Authority will be at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 12.
In other business, council unanimously approved Parkersburg resident and retired teacher Harold Stockwell for appointment to the Municipal Planning Commission. Stockwell’s term will end Dec. 31, 2015.
Council unanimously approved a final reading of an ordinance to approve lease or purchase of a work truck for the city’s Building and Grounds Department at a cost of $30,498.
