Man stabbed in leg

MARIETTA — A Marietta man has been arrested after allegedly stabbing another man in the leg Tuesday night.

Ronald W. Fisher, 28, of 715 Greene St., was apprehended by city police and charged with felonious assault. According to a statement of facts from the department, police were notified at 11:07 p.m. that there had been a stabbing while in an apartment at 833 Second St.

When officers arrived, a resident of the apartment, William Williams, told police he’d been stabbed and showed them a wound to the back of his upper left leg. Another officer stopped a red Dodge Durango in which witnesses said the suspect, Fisher, had fled.

According to the statement, Williams went to answer the door when someone kept banging on it. When the door opened, Fisher allegedly came in and stabbed Williams.

Williams said he’d never seen Fisher before that night. A potential motive was not given in the report.

Williams was transported to a local hospital; his condition was not immediately known. Fisher was arrested and taken back to the police department, where he reportedly gave a written confession. He was taken to the Washington County Jail and is scheduled to appear in Marietta Municipal Court today.
